Guided Biofilm Therapy – GBT means that the clinician is guided by the disclosed biofilm during professional tooth cleaning procedures. Dental biofilm is one of the main factors for caries, periodontal and peri-implant infections. Periodontitis can increase the risk of systemic diseases, such as cardiovascular and respiratory disease, arthritis or diabetes. Before removal the biofilm is always disclosed with a dye solution. Then biofilm and young calculus are easily removed with AIRFLOW® Regular oral hygiene, combined with professional measures keeps biofilm under control – for a better oral and systemic health. Guided Biofilm Therapy is truly minimally invasive, reduces the need of hand and sonic/ ultra-sonic instrumentation. It is safe, effective and gentle to teeth and soft tissues, implants/restorations / composite bonding & veneers. GBT is also very comfortable it is efficient and time-saving. GBT is part of a comprehensive preventive concept – to preserve our patient’s oral health – and to make our patients feel good.

Airflow treatment is a quick and easy way to have general stains removed from your teeth. It gently removes plaque – helping to prevent gum disease. It is pain-free and a gentler way to remove stains than traditional stain removal treatments, a great idea for anyone nervous about a hygiene appointment.  if done before a tooth whitening treatment can improve the overall effectiveness of the whitening. Here at Dental Health Spa, we are advocates for preventative dental care. We ensure that our patients including children receive professional oral hygiene appointments, at least twice a year as part of their regular dental routine. This allows us to review our patients’ brushing techniques, protect our patient’s teeth and further motivate our patients to maintain better oral and systemic health. Safe and pain-free cleaning for children’s teeth and great for around fixed braces too. Teaching the best way to obtain and keep a healthy mouth starts when children are very young.

We can offer stand-alone Hygiene treatments even if you have your own Dentist. The best way to keep your teeth, gums, and mouth healthy is to brush and floss your teeth twice daily. However, regular dental check-ups and professional hygiene treatments are also part of an effective dental hygiene regime. Ensuring you have regular hygiene therapy treatments allows a dental professional to assess the health of your teeth, and give your teeth a thorough cleaning, keeping your smile looking radiant and fresh.

What happens during a new patient’s hygiene therapy treatment?

Our Hygiene team are non-judgemental and will discuss any oral health issues you may have and you can discuss your oral hygiene routine. They will proceed to clean your teeth and gums and use the EMS Airflow tooth polishing system to remove staining and brighten your smile. Your hygienist then demonstrates how to use floss or interdental brushes and discusses any oral hygiene concerns you may have. They will advise you on how to clean and show you the best techniques and recommend the correct products for optimum oral health and hygiene to keep your smile healthy.

The Dental Health Spa is fully committed to providing a high standard of oral healthcare to all patients, including professional hygiene treatments and comprehensive dental exams.
