Dental Health Spa opened in Brighton in September 2007 by our Director and Hygienist Christina Chatfield and even though she doesn’t work clinically now has maintained her passion for excellent quality, affordable private dental care.

We strive to offer you the very best in contemporary dental care. Over the years the team have won many awards, including Brighton and Hove Business Award for Best Customer Service and Hygienist of the Year at the National Dental Hygiene & Therapy Awards.

Our Clinic is located in Brighton near the Laines and the Beach. We pride ourselves on excellent service and making our patients feel relaxed and at ease, we have the latest innovative technology and equipment, but above all a fantastic team of dental professionals who are committed to helping you achieve a happy and healthy smile.

Our friendly team provide a comprehensive cosmetic and general dental treatments, including Invisalign® Veneers, Composite Bonding and can tailor individual smile makeover plans. Our Hygiene and Therapy Team are passionate about preventative care and great oral hygiene and offer Hygiene and Perio treatments using the latest EMS Airflow equipment and a range of teeth whitening options to suit your needs.

Dental Health Spa was conceived in September 2007 by Clinical Director and award winning Dental Hygienist of the Year finalist, Christina Chatfield.

“I had a vision to open a new hygiene-led oral health care clinic on the high-street, where oral health care could become both accessible and demystified. That vision is Dental Health Spa”.

Dental Health Spa is not a dental surgery as you know it! We work in an open environment, protecting your privacy without conducting our treatments behind intimidating closed doors.

Nick Van Der Meulen

Clinical Director -Dentist - 223079

Nick has worked at Dental Health Spa for 5 years and has recently become our Clinical Director.

Graduated in The Netherlands with a masters of Dentistry and has a keen interest in international dentistry. He enjoys using the latest techniques in modern dentistry and using the most gentle methods when treating patients. Nick has a passion for prosthetic work, composite rebuilds and Invisalign. His caring nature and laid back personality are sure to put even the most nervous patient at ease.

Nick enjoys the outdoors lifestyle making the most of living by the sea. He enjoys sailing, paddle boarding and going out for dinner with his wife and 2 daughters.

Mhiran Patel

Dentist - 193841

Mhiran graduated From the University of Birmingham in 2010. He moved to the south coast shortly afterwards and has worked as an associate in Sussex. He gained further postgraduate qualifications in 2015 at the University of Manchester in Restorative and Aesthetic Dentistry. Mhiran joined Dental Health Spa in 2020.

Undertaking the complex work required during his master’s degree, Mhiran now has experience with full mouth rehabilitation and cosmetic dentistry. He also is keen to learn new aspects and techniques of dentistry such as computer aided design and manufacture of crowns and fillings.

Outside work, Mhiran is a keen environmentalist, owning and managing a zero-waste retail store.

Clifton WAN

Implant Surgeon - GDC 244583

Clifton is a highly experienced general dentist with a special interest in Implants and Oral Surgery, who joined Brighton Dental Health Spa in 2026.

He graduated from the University of Sheffield in 2013 and completed Dental Foundation Training in Harrogate, followed by advanced posts in Oral and Maxillofacial Units in Bradford and West Sussex, gaining experience in complex surgical care.

He holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Advanced Implant Dentistry, a Master’s in Primary Dental Care, and a Certificate in Cosmetic and Aesthetic Restorative Dentistry, and is a Member of the Faculty of Dental Surgery at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow.

Known for a calm, evidence-based approach, Clifton provides everything from routine dentistry to complex extractions, oral surgery and dental implant placement. Outside work, he enjoys live theatre, music and tennis.

Jolene Pinder

Hygienist and Aesthetics clinician

Jolene has a wealth of experience and Award Winning Dental Hygienist, Swiss Dental Academy Trainer, ITI Study Club Director and the honorary secretary of the British Society of Dental Hygiene and Therapy, she also has a special interest in Facial and Body Aesthetics.

Jolene will be leading the new Aesthetics at the Spa Clinic and offering the latest advances in skincare and facial and body treatments along with advanced Dental Hygiene Treatments. Jolene is passionate about helping patients to achieve optimal dental health and wellness as well as looking and feeling great.

Max Roberts

Dental Therapist & Hygienist

Max grew up in Worthing before moving to Guildford where he obtained his PhD in Human Physiology and Biochemistry. After a successful career in academic research and teaching, Christina took Max on as a Dental Nurse at Dental Health Spa in 2021 so Max could follow his dream of working in healthcare. Max has since obtained his degree in Dental Hygiene & Dental Therapy from Portsmouth University with first-class honours and was awarded the TePe prize for outstanding patient communication. Max’s passion for hygiene and kids dentistry is clear during his appointments, and Max’s true joy lies in ensuring all his patients feel comfortable, listened to, and leave each appointment feeling positive about their general and oral health.

Christina Chatfield

2615 Majority shareholder and Director

DH&T Hygienist of the Year 2012 Winner, Christina qualified as a hygienist in Dundee in 1982 and moved to Brighton in 1994 with her three young children. Christina brings a wealth of experience from her clinical role and draws from her continued academic learning and her colleagues in the dental industry.

Dental Health Spa was conceived in September 2007 by Christina who had a vision to open a new hygiene-led oral health care clinic on the high-street, where oral health care could become both accessible and demystified. Christina has successfully continued to grow Dental Health Spa and has now taken a step back from her clinical role to concentrate on the further growth of the business.

Caroline Oram

Financial Director

Dental Health Spa’s Commercial Director, Carol has a background in banking and the law and she looks after all commercial aspects of Dental Health Spa’s business.

Carol enjoys an active lifestyle; she cycles to work from her home in Brighton. She lives with her husband and two children, cat and dog and coordinates our social calendar; she is legendary for her great party planning and buffets!

Hayley Hutchins

Treatment Coordinator

Hayley began her dental career as a Dental Nurse in 2006, gaining experience in general and cosmetic dentistry, orthodontics, and implantology. She furthered her education with a Dental Radiography qualification in 2010 and regularly updates her skills, particularly in Invisalign and smile makeovers.

Moving from Surrey to Brighton in 2012, she advanced to Clinic Lead Nurse in Sussex before becoming a Treatment Coordinator at Dental Health Spa, where she focuses on patient care. Hayley, now a first-time mum, lives in Hove with her family, enjoying seaside life.

Darcey Gibson

Dental Assistant

Darcey is our newest team member here at Dental Health Spa and we are so happy to have her as part of our team!

Darcey is a Dental Assistant and is working towards her Qualification at present. She is organised and has great people skills. In her spare time she enjoys keeping fit and swimming.

She has previously worked in a Prom dress store. Darcey lives locally in Hove is an animal lover and is looking to get her own dog very soon.
